Fire resistance values apply when the foam is used as part of a tested and approved fire-resistant system, in the specified configuration.

Where they are used

  • Fire-rated doors and windows
  • Fire-rated wall joints
  • Construction gaps and connection joints
  • Wall openings and service penetrations, including HVAC and MEP

MULTIFOAM PRO 5145 is class B2 and is not a fire-stop product. Where a fire-rated seal is required, use PURAFOAM FIRE, as part of a tested system.

How to apply

Fire door frame sealed with PURAFOAM FIRE

The fire rating belongs to the tested system: frame, wall and joint together.

  1. Follow the tested system

Use the joint width, depth and wall build-up of the tested fire-resistant system you are following. The ratings apply only in that configuration.

  2. Prepare the surfaces

Firm, clean, free of dust and grease. Moisten them if needed: pre-wetting improves adhesion and the cell structure.

Tip: PU foam does not bond to polyethylene, silicone, oils, greases or other release agents.

  3. Prepare the can

Shake about 20 times, screw on the dispenser gun, discard the first strip and work with the valve down.

  4. Fill from the bottom

Fill the gap from the bottom up to about 80 % of its volume. The foam expands and fills it completely.

  5. Let it cure

Cuttable after about 60 minutes (5190 with a gun) or 50 minutes (5191). Fully loadable after about 12 hours.
